The Tower of Hanoi has the Myth that a group of Eastern Monks are the keepers of three towers on which resides 64 golden rings. Originally all 64 rings were piled on one tower with each ring smaller than the below one. The Monks had to move the rings from this first tower to the third one obeying two conditions, first is one ring put at a time and never move a larger ring on the top of a smaller. Once the 64 rings had all been transferred, the world would come to an end.

A computer is a complex machine comprising of many components like input devices, output devices, processing unit, memory and many more. But as a brain of computer which is pronounced Central Processing Unit (CPU), also called processor is the main component which is totally responsible for all the processing and execution in the device. In modern era, the CPU is a single chip on the order of one square inch in the size.

A software is simply a list of instructions which CPU will have to follow mechanically. A computer machine is built to carry out the instructions that are written in its native language called machine language. Each type of computer comprises its own machine language and the computer directly executes a program written in the machine language. It can also execute other programs written in other than machine language only in one circumstance if the program is decoded by the language processor of that language.

The Gaussian Elimination method reduces a system of linear equations to a simpler form. The method works in two stages:

  • Forward stage
  • Backward (or Back Substitution) stage

Consider the following system of four equations;

a11x1 + a12x2 + a13x3 + a14x4 = b1

a21x1 + a22x2 + a23x3 + a24x4 = b2

a31x1 + a32x2 + a33x3 + a33x3 = b3

a31x1 + a32x2 + a33x3 + a44x4 = b4

Numerous methods have been devised to solve the systems of linear equations. This shows that no single method is best suited to all situations. These methods should be judged on the basis of their speed and accuracy. Speed is of importance in solving large systems because of the large volume of computations involved and accuracy is necessary because of the round-off errors involved in performing these computations.
